1. Thorough inspection of the boiler
Start by visually inspecting the entire installation. Check for cracks, corrosion, leaks or other signs of wear. Don’t forget the flue pipes and seals – even a minor fault can affect the safety and performance of the boiler.
2. Clean boiler = higher efficiency
After the summer, the boiler tends to have a build-up of dust and soot. Clean the combustion chamber, heat exchanger and flues as recommended in the instructions. A clean boiler means better combustion, lower fuel consumption and less worry.
3. Check fans and pumps
Fans and pumps can become stuck after the summer break. Check that they are turning freely and are not clogged with dust. For boilers with a lambda sensor, we recommend cleaning and calibrating it. If in any doubt , call a professional – prevention is always cheaper than repair.
4. Check the condition of the pellet burner
With pellet boilers, it’s a good idea to look at the burner – clean it, remove deposits and check all moving parts. A clogged burner reduces efficiency and can cause unstable boiler operation.
5. Check the functionality of the safety features
Safety valves, sensors, thermostats and other protective elements must be fully functional. Check that they react as they should – this is an essential safeguard for trouble-free operation.
6. Perform a system leak test
Before you heat, it’s a good idea to pressure test the heating system. Make sure all joints are tight and there are no water leaks. If so, address the repair before the full season begins.
7. Filling and venting
If the system was drained over the summer, refill the water to the prescribed pressure and thoroughly bleed all circuits. A properly vented system heats more evenly and quietly. Also check the pressure in the expansion tank.
8. Thermostat and control settings
Check the temperature, time programs and control settings. With modern BLAZE HARMONY boilers, you can set the operation to be as economical as possible – adapted to the rhythm of your day and the outside temperatures.
9. First heat
When you have everything ready, make the first start-up and observe how the boiler behaves. Note any error messages, unusual noises or smells. If everything is OK, you can start heating at full blast.
10. Don’t forget about maintenance during the season
The boiler needs care even during the winter. Regularly check the heat exchanger, clean the combustion chamber, filters and monitor performance. Even minor regular maintenance has a big impact on reliability and consumption.

Turbulator: the simple component that gets the most out of your boiler
Imagine a car engine without a turbo. It runs, but not nearly as efficiently as it could. Add a turbo, and the power goes up. A simple element in the boiler called a turbulator has a similar effect. It doesn’t take up much space, but it greatly increases the efficiency of the boiler – which means less wood consumed, faster heat, and lower costs.
