10 steps to prepare for the heating season with boilers from BLAZE HARMONY

The arrival of autumn means not only dropping temperatures, but also time to prepare your boiler for the upcoming heating season. Proper boiler preparation is the key to heating your home efficiently and safely. Here are some steps to help you prepare your boiler for the first flush after the summer break.

1. Thorough inspection of the boiler

The first step is to carry out a thorough visual inspection of the boiler. Check for any visible signs of damage or wear such as cracks, leaks or corrosion. Pay particular attention to the flue pipes and seals, which should be in perfect condition.

2. Cleaning the boiler

After the previous season, the boiler has accumulated dust, soot and other debris that can affect its performance. It is important to clean the boiler thoroughly, including all internal parts such as the combustion chamber, heat exchanger and flue pipes. Use the appropriate tools and procedures recommended in the instructions for your boiler from BLAZE HARMONY.

3. Check the functionality of the fans and pumps

Fans and pumps are key components of the boiler that ensure proper air and water circulation. Clean the fan, check for “frozen” pumps and ensure they are working properly. If you use a LAMDA probe, then pay attention to cleaning the probe and recalibrate it according to the instructions. If any malfunction is suspected, contact your heating engineer.

4. Check the condition and cleanliness of the pellet burners

Pellet burners are a key part of the combustion process and their condition directly affects the efficiency of the boiler. Inspect the burners at least once a year for signs of wear or clogging, and clean or replace them if necessary. Call your heating engineer for a detailed burner inspection and lubrication of all moving parts.

5. Verify proper operation of safety features

Safety comes first. Check the functionality of all boiler safety features, including pressure valves, safety thermostats and sensors. These components must be working properly to ensure safe operation of the boiler.

6. Perform a system leak test

It is advisable to carry out a leak test of the heating systembefore the first flood. Make sure all connections are tight and there are no leaks. This check will help prevent unpleasant surprises during the heating season.

7. Filling and venting the system

If the system was drained during the summer, it should be filled with water before the first flood. Make sure the system is at the correct water pressure and be sure to thoroughly bleed the system to avoid circulation problems. Check the pressure in the expansion tank, or adjust according to the expansion tank’s instructions.

“By properly preparing for the heating season and paying attention to BLAZE HARMONY boiler maintenance, you will ensure efficient, safe and economical operation all year long.”

8. Check thermostat and control settings

Before starting the boiler, check the thermostat settings and, if necessary, adjust the control to the current requirements. Modern BLAZE HARMONY boilers have advanced control options to optimise operation and achieve maximum energy savings.

9. First start-up and test operation

After all checks and maintenance have been carried out, it is time for the first start-up. Observe the behaviour of the boiler during the test run, noting whether there are any error messages or unusual noises. If everything is working properly, the BLAZE HARMONY boiler is ready for the entire heating season.

10. Regular maintenance during the season

To keep the boiler working reliably throughout the heating season, do not forget about regular maintenance. Check the boiler’s heat exchanger chambers, filters, clean the burners and monitor the boiler to ensure that it is working efficiently. Regular maintenance not only prolongs the life of the boiler but also increases its efficiency.
